Tourism Signage
Implementation

Installation

Signs will be prepared and installed by a recognised manufacturing company that is acceptable to the Highways Department.

The signs will be white lettering on a brown background and made of plastic laminate on aluminium.

Installation will take one to two days.

Responsibilities

The Chamber of Tourism are proposing places to be signed, the naming of the attractions, and the general placement of the signs. These aspects rely on local knowledge and are best established by a local organisation.

National and District Signage Standards determine the sizes, dimensions and layouts of the signs. Size is dependent on traffic, visibility and average speed on the adjacent roadway.

The Highways department vets the overall signage plan for conformity with standards and determines exact placement of the signs.

Local and District councils require their final approval before installation.
